Duendita, also known as Candace Camacho, is a Afro-Latinx and Puerto Rican-American singer/songwriter from Queens, New York. According to Candace, the name ‘Duendita’ comes from a concept by Federico García Lorca called ‘duende’ which is a powerful spirit that encourages the artist to express themselves. The 23 year-old is recognized by her soulful voice and siren-like songs, such as her most popular singles, ‘One of One’ and ‘Pray’. Her most recent EP, ‘direct line to My Creator’ was released in 2018, is a 10 track album that was also used as her college senior thesis at New York University’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. She considers her music to be ‘genre-less and borderless’ as she produces a mix of soul, jazz and alternative R&B in her sound. Her single, ‘One of One’ has over 3 million plays on Spotify and has 100k monthly listeners. Duendtia’s come up landed her features in several news platforms such as The Fader, Pitchfork, The New York Times, Newsweek, Variety and Girl Boss.
