A.J. Cook is a Canadian actress born in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada on July 22, 1978. She is best known for her role as Jennifer “JJ” Jareau in the crime drama Criminal Minds. She started dancing at the age of four and danced competitively for a number of years. At the age of 16 she wanted to try acting and in 1997 landed her first job in a McDonald’s commercial. In 1997 she landed her debut role in film in the movie Laserhawk and continued landing roles in films like The Virgin Suicides, Ripper, Out Cold Elvis Meets Nixon, The Spiral Staircase, Final Destination 2, Night Skies, Mother’s Day, Least Among Saint and others. She also landed her debut role on a television show in 1997 in the series Goosebumps and has had roles in the shows Psi Factor, Higher Ground, First Wave, Dead Like Me, Tru Calling, Criminal Minds and Vanished. In 2019 she was a director on an episode of the television show Criminal Minds.
