Aaron Boone is a former professional baseball player. Born on March 9, 1973, in Las Mesa, California, he is the son of former catcher Bob Boone. Despite being drafted in 1991 by the California Angels right out of high school, Boone rejected the draft to attend the University of Southern California instead, where he played collegiate baseball. During his three seasons at USC, he hit a .308 average. After college, he was recruited by the Cincinnati Reds in 1994 during the third round. In 2002, he hit his career-high of 26 home runs in one season. In 2003, Boone played in the MLB All-Star Game. After the Reds, he would go on to play with the New York Yankees, the Cleveland Indians, the Florida Marlins, the Washington Nationals, and the Houston Astros. He announced his retirement in 2010 and became an analyst for ESPN. In 2017, he signed a contract to manage the New York Yankees
