Aasif Mandvi is a British-American actor and comedian born in Mumbai, India on March 5, 1966. He is best known for his appearances on The Daily Show. He went to college at the University of South Florida graduating with a degree in theater and worked as a performer at Disney-MGM Studios and Walt Disney World Resort. Mandvi moved to New York and began performing in off-Broadway productions. He got his first role in a theater production in 1993 in Suburbia and has also been in productions on and off Broadway in Death Defying Acts, Crosscurrents, Sakina’s Restaurant, Oklahoma!, and Disgraced. In 1988 he made his debut on television in the show Miami Vice and has also had roles in the shows Law & Order, Welcome to New York, Sex and the City, Oz, ER, The Daily Show, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Brink, and more. He landed his debut role in film in 1990 in the movie No Retreat, No Surrender 3: Blood Brothers and has continued landing roles in films like The Siege, Undermine, Spider-Man 2, Freedomland, The Understudy, The Proposal, Dark Horse, The Internship, Million Dollar Arm, Drunk Parents, and others. In 2014 he published his first book titled No Land’s Man with Chronicle Books.
