British YouTuber, playwright, and actress Abigail Thorn was born on 24th April 1993 in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England. She is known for her YouTube channel, Philosophy Tube. In 2013, she started the channel in response to the tripling of university tuition fees in the United Kingdom. The mission of the channel was to provide a philosophy degree for free. She began to talk about philosophers like Immanuel Kant and Rene Descartes on the channel. After attending the 2018 VidCon conference, she changed her content creation format, investing in elaborate costumes and makeup. She used a sketch comedy approach to discuss many current topics. Her content grew in popularity helping her reach the one million mark in 2021. Her channel was also featured on radio shows like ‘World Business Report’ and media outlets like ‘Insider’. She used her platform to come out as a transwoman and was featured in BBC on an interview with Ben Hunter where she discussed the anxiety associated with this online disclosure of her sexuality.
