British rapper Akala, was born Kingslee James McLean Daley on December 1st 1983 in Crawley, West Sussex. Akala made waves with his breakthrough album, It’s Not a Rumour, and his single, Shakespeare. He scored the MOBO Award for Best Hip Hop Act. His follow-up album Freedom Lasso, contained Comedy Tragedy History. Akala headlined many tours, and toured with Jay-Z, Nas, Damian Marley, Christina Aguilera, Siouxsie Sue, and more. His album Doublethink has Nineteen Eighty-Four themes, and his album The Thieves Banquet contains the songs Malcolm Said It, and Lose Myself featuring Josh Osho. Akala headlined at the British Library, launching the Evolving English exhibition, and participated in a hip-hop panel discussion with Saul Williams, Mk Asante, and Lowkey. The multi-talented rapper launched The Hip-hop Shakespeare Company, and is also known for his exciting lectures, seminars, journalism, TV presenting, and script-writing.
