Alan Silvestri is a classical composer, known for composing film scores in a long and celebrated career. Born from Italian immigrants settled in New York, he attended the Berklee College of Music and started out drumming for a local rock band. His earliest work in the industry was composing the score for the 1972 film “The Doberman Gang,” and serving as in-studio composer for all of the music on the 1977-1983 TV series “CHiPs.”
Alan Silvestri met film director Robert Zemeckis, and his story was never again the same. The two have maintained a partnership ever since, with Silvestri composing the score for Zemeckis films including smash Hollywood hits like “Romancing the Stone” (1984), the “Back to the Future” series (1985-1990), “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” (1988), “Forrest Gump” (1994), “Cast Away” (2000), and many more. Through working with the gifted director, Silvestri has developed a fine ear for capturing the excitement and sense of wonder in film storytelling.
