Alexander David Turner is an English singer, musician, and songwriter who is best known as the frontman of the music groups Arctic Monkeys, The Last Shadow Puppets, and Death Ramps. He was born in Sheffield, England, on January 6, 1986. His musical career began in 2002 when he formed the band Arctic Monkeys together with bandmates Jamie Cook, Nick O’Malley, and Matt Helders. He is also part of his side music projects Death Ramps and The Last Shadow Puppets. As a solo artist, Alex is known for the hit songs Stuck on the Puzzle, It’s Hard to Get Around the Wind, and Hiding Tonight. For his work with the Arctic Monkeys, Alex has received multiple Grammy and MTV Music nominations, 7 Brit Awards for British Breakthrough Act, British Group, and British Album of the Year, two GAFFA Norway Awards for Best Foreign Band and Best Foreign Album, a Mercury Prize Award for Album of the Year, and a Meteor Music Award for Best International Album.
