Alexander Volkanovski, widely known as The Great, is a mixed martial artist born on September 29, 1988, in Shellharbour, New South Wales, Australia. He has fought in the Welterweight, Lightweight, and Featherweight divisions, fighting out of Windang, New South Wales. He is associated with City Kickboxing, Tiger Muay Thai, Bangtao Muay Thai & MMA, and Freestyle Fighting Gym.
Alexander has a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Joe Lopez. He played rugby for the Warilla Gorillas. Alexander won gold at the 2001 Australian National Schools Wrestling Competition. He is undefeated in the UFC, ranking number 2 in the UFC Men's pound-for-pound rankings.
Alexander won ten consecutive fights in the Australian Fighting Championship league before signing with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in 2016. His accomplishments include the UFC Featherweight Champion, the Cage Conquest Welterweight Champion, the Pacific Xtreme Combat (PXC) Featherweight Champion, and the Roshambo MMA Lightweight Champion and Welterweight Champion.
