Alexander Wang is an American fashion designer, born on December 26, 1983, in San Francisco, California. He is known for his unisex clothing and accessories and masculine womenswear collections. Alexander moved to New York City at age 18 to attend Parsons School of Design but did not complete his studies. Working as an intern for magazines like Vogue and Teen Vogue helped him acquire expertise in the fashion industry. He has worked for Marc Jacobs and Derek Lam as an apprentice. He established a cashmere sweater brand after gaining enough experience. The Califonia native won the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award in 2008. He was also awarded the Swarovski Womenswear Designer of the Year Award and the Swiss Textiles Award in 2009. In 2013 he was named creative director for Balenciaga.
