Alexis Ohanian Bio
Alexis Ohanian is an American internet entrepreneur born in 1983 in Brooklyn, New York. He gained notoriety by founding the forum platform website reddit.com. After graduating from the University of Virginia, he teamed up with his schoolmate Steve Huffman to pitch startup ideas to Paul Graham. The result came in 2006 with Reddit, which was acquired by the magazine corporation Conde Nast and retained Ohanian as a member of the Board of Directors. Ohanian launched two more startups in the late 2000s, and in 2010 he started his own investment firm to focus on technology startups. In 2011 he became an activist while organizing efforts to resist two US internet regulation acts, and a year later he was named “Mayor of the Internet” by Forbes. In 2013, Ohanian published the testimonial book “Without Their Permission: How the 21st Century Will Be Made, Not Managed on,” which became a Wall Street Journal best-seller.
