Alexis Taylor is a British singer, and multi-instrumentalist, born on April 20, 1980, in London, England. He is best known as the lead singer, keyboardist, and guitarist of the synthpop band Hot Chip, although he also performs solo. Alexis and his band released two albums, but his solo career is where he really shines. In 2008, he released his debut album Rubbed Out, which saw him trade his band's percolating electropop for more intimate, often acoustic music. That same year, he created the quintet About Group with John Coxon, pianist Pat Thomas, and drummer Charles Hayward. In 2014, he released his long-awaited second solo album, Await Barbarians, on which he played all instruments except strings. In 2016, his album Piano came out, followed by Listen With(out) Piano in 2017, Beautiful Thing in 2018, and Silence in 2021.
