Alfonso Cuarón was born on November 28th in Mexico City, Mexico. He knew as a child that he wanted to make films and at 12 years old, he got his first camera and began filming everything in sight. After he finished high school, he wanted to study at Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica, but he was not accepted because he was too young at the time. He settled for studying philosophy during the day and taking classes at Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos for Cinema at night. He broke into the industry by working as a cable person in the 1982 film La Vispera. He went on to direct many notable titles such as A Little Princess (1995), Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Children of Men (2006), and Gravity (2013). He has won two Oscars and one Golden Globe for his work on Gravity.
