Alma Har’el is an Israeli film director and entrepreneur who was born on July 2nd 1976. She was born and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Alma is famous for winning the Tribeca International Film Festival’s Best World Documentary for Bombay Beach in 2011. Alma is also the first woman in DGA Awards history to be nominated for both commercial directing (2019) and narrative directing (2020). Her first DGA Award for First-Time Feature Film came with her movie Honey Boy. The movie was distributed by Amazon Studios. She also founded the non-profit Free The Bid which was a massive success. Alma was also featured in Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Cinema in 2011. She was also in Fast Company’s Most Creative People of 2018, Adweek’s Disruptors of 2018 and on Indiewire’s list of leading Women Who Made the World of Filmmaking a Better Place in 2018.
