Amanda Gorman Bio
Amanda Gorman is an American activist, poet, and writer who became well known after the performance of her poem The Hill We Climb at the inauguration ceremony of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as president and vice president in 2021. Amanda was born on March 23, 1998, in Los Angeles, California, United States. She began writing poems with powerful messages from a young age, and when she was only sixteen, she was selected to be the Los Angeles Youth Poet Laureate from 2014 to 2015. Amanda was also selected to be the first-ever National Youth Poet Laureate. Amanda has written a book for children called Change Sings and a collection of poems The Hill We Climb Poems. She is a graduate of Harvard University and has been extensively covered by New York Times and Vogue.
