Amber Ruffin is an American comedian, TV host, writer, actress, playwright, and book author born January 9, 1979, in Omaha, Nebraska, U.S.
Ruffin is mostly known for hosting the television late-night talk show titled The Amber Ruffin Show on NBC television and the Peacock streaming service.
Ruffin started her career with improvisational comedy when she began performing in local theater improv shows in Omaha, back in 2001. Her performance led the rising star to Chicago where she started doing improvisational comedy. Ruffin continued her career as a comedian in Amsterdam, working as a writer and performer with the comedy troupe Boom Chicago Amsterdam.
After her endeavor in the Netherlands, Ruffin came back to Chicago and started performing as part of The Second City comedy troupe in Chicago as well as in Denver, Colorado.
In 2014 Ruffin became the writer for Late Night with Seth Meyers. She also wrote for the Comedy Central show called Detroiters and Drunk History, an educational comedy series where Ruffin performed as a narrator.
Ruffin was the host of the 70th Writers Guild of America awards ceremony in 2018.
Since 2020, Ruffin hosts and writes her show called The Amber Ruffin Show.
