Anderson Cooper is an American journalist, television personality, and author. He was born on June 3, 1967, as Anderson Hays Cooper in New York City, U.S. In 1990, after studying political science at Yale University, Cooper started working as a fact-checker for Channel One News, and over time he became its chief international correspondent. Cooper joined ABC news as a reporter in 1994, eventually co-anchoring “World News Now”, the network’s overnight news program. In 2000 Cooper changed his reporter career to host ABC’s prime-time reality television show “The Mole”, but in 2001 he returned to the newsroom as a reporter for CNN. In 2003 he became the anchor of his own program, “Anderson Cooper 360°”, while regularly contributing to CNN’s “NewsNight”. In 2005 Cooper recovered the national impact reporting on the devastation to the U.S. Gulf Coast caused by Hurricane Katrina. Two years later, he began hosting a show “CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute” which recognizes some extraordinary deeds by ordinary people. That same year he became a regular contributor to the CBS news program “60 Minutes”.
