Manuel Alfonso Andrade Oropez, popularly known as Andrade El Idolo was born on November 3, 1991, in Gómez Palacio, Durango, Mexico. He is a Mexican professional wrestler most renowned for wrestling in WWE, and being a two-time NXT and United States Champion. He has fought under other independent promotions including NJPW, and AAA.
Andrade began his wrestling career in Mexico at the age of 17. In 2007, he was signed by CMLL, where he began his training. After his training, he changed his name to La Sombra (The Shadow). In 2009, La Sombra became a triple champion with the NWA World Welterweight Championship, Mexican National Trios Championship, and CMLL World Tag Team Championship.
In 2015, he was signed by WWE. He made his debut in NXT in 2016 and quickly established himself as one of the top stars in the promotional brand. In 2018, he won the NXT Championship and was promoted to the main roster of the WWE. In 2019, Andrade won the United States Championship in 2019. In 2021, he signed with AAA and AEW and changed his name to Andrade El Idolo.
