Andrés Iniesta Luján is a Spanish professional soccer player born in 1984 in Fuentealbilla, Albacete. He trained at Barcelona’s youth academy “La Masia,” and debuted in the pro league at age 18. In 2004 Iniesta became part of the regular Barcelona lineup, and in 2009 he helped the team win all three European and Spanish championships for the season. He has also been a regular in the Spanish soccer national team, having first played with the Under-16, Under-19, and Under-21 divisions. In 2008 he had his first national championship victory at the Euro 2008, and two years later he scored the winning goal at the 2010 World Cup final against the Netherlands, in both cases being selected for the tournaments’ all-star teams. In 2012 Iniesta won the Euro Cup with his team once again. He has been distinguished as UEFA’s 2012 Best Player in Europe in 2012 and IFFHS World's Best Playmaker in 2012 and 2013.
