Andrew Lloyd Webber Bio

Andrew Lloyd Webber is an English composer and impresario of musical theater born in London, England on March 22, 1948. He has composed 13 musicals, two film scores, a song cycle, and a set of variations. A few of his musical have run for over a decade on Broadway and in the West End. Some of his musicals include The Likes of Us, Jesus Christ Superstar, Cats, Cricket, The Phantom of the Opera, The Beautiful Game, The Woman in White School of Rock and others. Some of his musicals have been turned into film adaptations like The Phantom of the Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar, By Jeeves, Cats, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He started his company The Really Useful Group in 1977 and it has become one of the largest theatre operators in London. Throughout his career he has won a number of awards, including six Tony Awards, three Grammy Awards and the Grammy Legend Award, a Golden Globe Award, a Brit Award, and many more. He is one of fifteen people who have won an Oscar, a Grammy Award, an Emmy Award and a Tony Award. In 1992 he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II and in 1993 he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
