Songwriter and musician Andrew W.K. was born Andrew Wilkes-Krier on May 9, 1979, in Palo Alto, California, though he was raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan. By the time he was 4, he had already learned how to play the piano, and showed much promise as a keyboardist in his teenage years. The young singer bounced around to different bands before finally putting out his first solo production, a record that he titled Room to Breathe under Hanson Records in 1998. Two years later, he released AWKGOJ, his first EP, through Bulb Records, which he followed with the Party Til You Puke EP under the same label.
Andrew W.K. later moved on to Island Def Jam Records for his productions, releasing the album I Get Wet in 2001. The album was his push into the spotlight, and he soon after made an appearance at Ozzfest that year. He would go on to release The Wolf in 2003, Close Calls With Brick Walls in 2006, The Japan Covers in 2008, and 55 Cadillac and Gundam Rock in 2009. His songs have appeared in various movies, including “Fun Night” in Old School and “She Is Beautiful” in Freaky Friday.
