Andrew Yang Bio

Andrew Yang is a businessman and politician. He was born in Schenectady, New York, on January 13, 1975. He is an alumnus of Brown University and Columbia Law School. He spent a few months working as an attorney in New York before venturing out on his own to create his own company. After a failed startup, he worked at several companies before joining Manhattan GMAT and becoming its CEO in 2007 and its president in 2010. He left the company to start Venture For America, a non-profit that helps small businesses across the United States. Yang was named A Champion of Change and an Ambassador of Entrepreneurship by President Obama. He was one of the Democratic presidential nominees for the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election, though he would eventually drop out of the race. In 2020, he announced his bid to become the mayor of New York City. He has written two books: Smart People Should Build Things (2014) and The War On Normal People (2018).
