Andy McKee is a fingerstyle guitarist who is one of the new generation of artists to rise to fame on the Internet alone. In 2005, the pioneering days of social media, videos of Andy McKee went viral on YouTube after being linked from the social media website Digg.com. McKee’s performance of “Drifting” soon became one of the top viewed videos on the entire site. McKee had already been releasing solo albums before this.
After the YouTube overnight viral success, his third album, “Art of Motion” (2005), released on the Candyrat Records label and contained most of the viral songs from his YouTube performances. McKee has since six more albums and has collaborated with the likes of Josh Groban, Don Ross, Lee Ritenour, and the late Prince on several Australian tours.
