Andy Samberg is an American actor, comedian, writer, producer, and musician. He was born August 18, 1978 as David A. J. Samberg in Berkeley, California. He is a member of the comedy music group The Lonely Island and he was a cast member on “Saturday Night Live” from 2005 to 2012, where he and his group members have been credited for popularizing the SNL Digital Shorts format. In 2007, after the end of his first season of SNL, Andy started filming the lead role in the film “Hot Rod”, and in those years he appeared in movies like “I Love You, Man”, “That’s My Boy” and “Celeste and Jesse Forever”. In 2012, after seven years of working on SNL, Samberg resigned from the show. In 2013 he starred in the Fox and NBC police sitcom “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”, for which he is also a producer and in that same year he received the Golden Globe award in the category of Best Actor – Television Series Musical or Comedy for his performance in the series. In 2016, Andy starred in the pop music mockumentary Popstar: “Never Stop Never Stopping”.
