Anji Chitambo has chosen Anjimile as his nickname. Anjimile is based in Boston, in the United States of America, and is a trans-non-binary singer/songwriter. They have a unique niche that blends African influences with indie rock and bedroom pop. Anji is the son of Malawian immigrants who was born in Dallas, Texas in the United States. They used to sing in a church choir at an early age. Anjimile was influenced by artists like Madonna, and Michael Jackson. During Anji’s teenage years, they discovered indie music via Sufjan Stevens and Iron and Wine, influencing his guitar playing and songwriting styles. Human nature in 2015’s and Good Boy in 2016 has its own fanbase, however, they became more popular after a reflective time where Anjimile understood a bit more about themselves. Father/Daughter records signed Anjimile in July 2020 for Giver Taker for his debut while battling an addiction to drugs and alcohol.
