Anna Mary Soubry (born December 7, 1956, in Lincoln, England) is a British barrister and former journalist. Soubry pursued journalism from 1981 to 1995, working with several regional and networked TV programs and the East Midlands local news program. She was a reporter and host of the Granada Television program titled This Morning.
Towards the end of her time in television, she worked on This Morning and other programmes for Channel 4 and BBC 1. In the mid-1990s, Anna left TV and returned to the Bar and became a member of the Criminal Bar Association.
In 2010, Soubry was voted to the parliament general election. In June, she became a Conservative member of the Justice Select Committee. In July 2014, Soubry was appointed as the minister of state for “Defence Personnel, Welfare, and Veterans.” She served as the minister of state at the Department for Business, Innovation, and Skills from 2015 to July 2016.
In 2019, she stepped down as a Conservative member in February 2019, to join The Independent Group, also known as Change UK, and became its leader in June. On December 19, she announced that the party had been abolished after losing all the seats in the December election.
