Ann Lennox, known more commonly to the world as Annie Lennox, was born in Scotland on December 25, 1954. She rose to prominence 1970s as a member of the band The Tourists, and from there she and musician friend David Stewart created the duo Eurythmics, the band behind the song “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)”. Her solo career took off in the 1990s, when in 1992 she released her debut album entitled Diva, which spawned the very popular singles “Walking on Broken Glass” and “Why”. From there, Annie Lennox would release the albums Medusa in 1995, Bare in 2003, Songs of Mass Destruction in 2007, A Christmas Cornucopia in 2010, and Nostalgia in 2014.
In addition to the critical acclaim she has received for her albums, Annie Lennox has been honored with four Grammy Awards, eight Brit Awards, and became an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2011. Some of her most popular singles, in addition to those released on her debut album, include “No More I Love Yous” and “Don’t Let It Bring You Down”. She is also recognized as being one of the most successful female artists to emerge from the UK.
