Anson Adams Mount IV, better known as Anson Mount, is an actor, writer, and producer born on February 25, 1973, in Prospect Heights, Illinois, United States. He grew up in White Bluff, Tennessee with his mother, former professional golfer Nancy Smith, and Anson Adams Mount II, one of the original contributing editors to Playboy magazine. Mount graduated from the University of the South, Sewanee in 1995. In 1998, he graduated from Columbia University with an MFA in Theater. He performed at several productions in New York before making his first television debut in 1999 on the television series Ally McBeal. Early in his career, he appeared in films like Boiler Room with Giovanni Ribisi and Ben Affleck and City of the Sea with Robert De Niro. In 2002, he starred opposite Britney Spears, playing her love interest in the movie Crossroads. He starred in Marvel’s Inhuman in 2017, playing the character Black Bolt. In 2019, he was one of the main cast in Star Trek Discovery, playing Captain Christopher Pike. He reprised this role in Star Trek Discovery: Strange New World.
