Anton Corbijn is a film and music director born on 20th May 1955 in Strijen, Netherlands. His credits include the visual output of bands “U2” and “Depeche Mode”. He was responsible for sleeve photography and principal promotion for the two bands for over 3 years. Corbijn started his career as a music photographer. He was regularly featured by the English film, music, culture and gaming outlet New Musical Express (NME) in the 1970s.
He has photographed popular musicians and bands, including Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Miles Davis, Kim Wilde, Simple Minds, Peter Hammill, and others. He started his career as a music video director after being asked by Palais Schaumburg to direct a video. He went on to direct videos for music videos for bands like Front 242, Roxette, US, Echo & the Bunnymen, David Sylvian, and Golden Earring. In 2010, he directed the thriller film “The American”, which FEATURED George Clooney.
