April Ross is a professional beach volleyball player born on June 20, 1982, in Costa Mesa, California. Ross has always been an active individual, having participated in indoor volleyball, basketball, and track when she attended Newport Harbor High School. She attended the University of Southern California, graduating with a degree in international relations. During her time at USC, she helped her volleyball team win two NCAA titles. Ross eventually transitioned to beach volleyball and in 2008, with partner Jennifer Kessy, she received third place at the ConocoPhillips Grand Slam Stavanger, second place at the Dubai Open, and first place at the Phuket Thailand Open. The year after, the two won the gold medal in the 2009 World Championship. In 2012, Ross and Kessy received the silver medal in the 2012 Olympics. In the 2016 Olympics, she would add another medal to her collection, this time a bronze with partner Kerri Walsh Jennings. Ross has received many accolades for her performance, including USAV’s Female Beach Volleyball Player of the Year.
