Known to have shown a passion for music early on, DJ Armin van Buuren was born on December 25, 1976, in Leiden, Netherlands. Van Buuren began creating music on his own when he was 14 years old, and as a university student, he got a job DJing for Club Nexus, where his sets were known to last for hours. In 1995, he released the track “Blue Fear” through Cyber Records, which charted in the UK. A few years later, he signed with AM PM Records, and in 2001, he was recognized by DJ Magazine as #27 on their list of the Top 100 DJs. Armin Van Buuren was also offered residency at the club Passion in the UK in 2002.
Armin Van Buuren would go on to release 76 in 2003, Shivers in 2005, Imagine in 2008, Mirage in 2010, and Intense in 2013. DJ Magazine honored him again in 2007, this time announcing him the #1 DJ out of the Top 100. In 2010, he was honored at the Buma Harpen Gala in the Netherlands and presented with the Golden Harp for his contribution to Dutch music. This came only two years after he won the Buma Cultuur Pop Award in 2008, which is a very highly regarded accolade in Dutch music.
