Avantasia Bio
Avantasia is a German metal opera super group started by Tobias Sammet in 1999 in Germany. The band’s name is a blend of the words avalon and fantasia and describes “a world beyond human imagination.” The members of the band are Tobias Sammet on Lead vocals and bass guitar, Sascha Paeth on guitar and production, Miro on keyboards and orchestration, and Felix Bohnke on Drums. They have featured a number of other vocalist and musicians from around the world like Timo Tolkki, Ron Rock, Ronnie Atkins, Oliver Hartmann, Joe Lynn Turner, Rudolf Schenker, Eric Singer, Bb Catley, Roy Khan, Sharon den Adel and many more. The band released their debut album in 2001 titled The Metal Opera and have since released the albums The Metal Opera Part II, The Scarecrow, The Wicked Symphony, Angel of Babylon, The Mystery of Time, Ghostlights, and Moonglow. Together they have released a total of 8 studio albums, one live album, 2 compilation albums, 2 EPs, and 8 singles during their 16 years together.
