Aya Nakamura is the stage name of Afrobeat and R&B singer Aya Danioko. She was born on May 10, 1995 in Bamako, Bali and emigrated to France with her family where she was raised in the suburbs of Paris. She took her stage name from the character Hiro Nakamura of the TV series ‘Heroes’ and began her own musical YouTube channel where she quickly gained a lot of popularity, with more than 110,000 subscribers even before her debut album. Her talent attracted attention from Warner Music and she soon signed with them. “Journal Intime”, her first album, was released in 2017 but her bigger success came in 2018 with the album “Nakamura” and the song “Djadja” that gave her a certified diamond record, making her the first French Black woman to win such an award. In 2019 she collaborated with Lil Pump for the song Pookie and in 2020 she released the remix of Djadja feat Maluma.
