Aziz Ansari Bio

Aziz Ansari was born on February 23, 1983 in Columbia, South Carolina. He got his start working on weekly shows like Invite Them Up and the theater Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. He was named to Rolling Stone’s Hot List in 2005 for his standup work. He also won the Jury Award at the 2006 HBO’s U.S. Comedy Arts Festival. He started making short films such as Shutterbugs and Illusionators. He joined an MTV sketch series in 2006 for two years.
In 2008, Ansari shot to fame when he joined the cast of Parks and Recreation. He was on the show for all seven seasons and earned critical praise and recognition for his work. He also writes and stars in the Netflix series Master of None. Ansari has also directed several episodes. Master of None earned him a Golden Globe nomination, four Emmy nominations for the show and a Peabody Award and Emmy for outstanding writing. Ansari hosted the 2010 MTV Movie Awards. He has had guest roles in Scrubs, Flight of the Conchords and Bob’s Burgers. He made a cameo in a music video for Jay-Z and Kanye West. He has had roles in the films Get Him to the Greek, 30 Minutes or Less, I Love You Man, Observe and Report and Funny People. He also continues to appear in standup performances.
