Barry Atsma (born December 29, 1972 in Bromley, England, UK) is a Dutch actor most renowned for his role in the 2014 British movie “Hector and the Search for Happiness” and the 2018 British television series “The Split”.
Atsma came into the limelight in the Netherlands after securing and playing a role in the TV series Rozengeur & Wodka Lime (2001–2005). He also starred in the hit film Stricken (Komt een vrouw bij de dokter), for which he was awarded the Gouden Kalf for Best Actor.
Since bagging his first acting gig, Barry has appeared in over twenty TV series and thirty feature films including In My Father's Garden (Knielen op een bed violen), Lucia de B., Loft, Mannenharten I en II, Admiral (Michiel de Ruyter), Ik omhels je met duizend armen, and Kenau. Besides acting in film, Atsma also acts on stage. Between 2002 and 2012, he was a member of the ensemble of Toneelgroep Amsterdam. He has worked with famous director, Ivo van Hove, in plays like, Angels in America, Husbands, De Russen! and Hedda Gabler.
