Mike Winkelmann, popularly known as Beeple, is a graphic designer from Charleston, South Carolina, USA. He was born on June 20, 1981 and is most renowned for his variety of digital artwork including short films, Creative Commons VJ loops, and VR/AR work.
Beeple majored in Computer Science and graduated from Purdue University in 2003, then proceeded to focus exclusively on arts and graphics. He worked consistently to create a picture every day from start to finish and posted it online for over ten years without missing a single day. Beeple is also a leading figure in the NFT art scene. He gained international prominence for the record-breaking sale of his NFT digital artwork Everydays: The First 5000 Days (2021) for $69.34 million at a Christie’s auction in March 2021.
He has also worked on concert visuals for music celebrities like Justin Bieber, One Direction, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Eminem, Zedd, deadmau5 and many more. He is one of the originators of the current "everyday" movement in 3D graphics. His works have been featured in numerous key galleries and museums such as Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art.
