Behemoth is a Polish blackened death metal band formed in Gdansk, Poland in 1991. The band started off playing traditional black metal, but changed to occult and thelemic themes in the late 90s. The current members are Adam Darski on lead vocals and guitars, Zbigniew Prominski on drums, and Tomasz Wroblewski on bass guitar and backing vocals. The band started with the members Adam Darski, Adam Muraszko, and Adam Malinowski. In 1994 they released their debut EP titled And the Forests Dream Eternally and followed it up the next year with their debut studio album Sventevith (Storming Near the Baltic). They have also released the albums Grom, Satanica, Demigod, Evangelion, The Satanist, and others. Throughout the bands time together they have released 11 studio albums, seven EPs, two live albums, three demo albums, two compilation albums, and one split album. They have also been nominated for several awards and have won two Fryderyk Awards for Heavy Metal Album of the Year in 2010 for their album Evangelion and Album of the Year in 2014 for their album The Satanist. The band is considered to have played a big part in establishing the Polish extreme metal underground.
