Stella Rose Bennett (January 30, 2000), better known as BENEE (formerly spelt Bene) is an award winning R&B/Pop singer-songwriter from Auckland, New Zealand. Bene first began to release music on Soundcloud of both covers and original songs. Her synthy pop sounds and sweet vocals garnered the attention of producer Josh Fountain and invited Benee to record with him. Her debut single, ‘Tough Guy’ was released in 2017 followed by ‘Soaked’ in 2018 both produced by Fountain. In 2019, under the moniker Bene, released her debut EP ‘Fire on Marzz’. Her EP peaked at number 13 on the New Zealand Albums Chart and also landed on the Australian Albums Chart at number 75. ‘Fire on Marzz’ earned Benee an award for Best Solo Artist, Best Pop Artist and Best Breakthrough Artist in 2019 at the 2019 New Zealand Music Awards as well as an award for Single of the Year with her song, ‘Glitter’. Benee followed with her second EP, ‘Stella & Steve’ which was released later that year. Her three tracks of the EP have also made the Australian charts on Triple J’s Hot 100 with ‘Glitter’ at number 19, ‘Find An Island’ at number 25 and ‘Evil Spider’ on number 52. The EP featured UK Artist Gus Dapperton on the track, ‘Supalonely’ which has gained 38.1 million plays on Spotify.
