Singer-songwriter Benjamin Booker was born Benjamin Roderick Evans on June 14, 1989 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He attended University of Florida and studied journalism with the intentions of pursuing music journalism. After graduation, he moved to New Orleans and began playing shows.
He released an EP, “Waiting Ones,” independently in 2012. The EP got the attention of music blog, Aquarium Drunkards, and in 2013, he signed with ATO Records. In August 2014, he released his self-titled debut album under ATO. It reached number 46 on the Billboard Top 200, number seven on the Billboard Top Independent Albums chart, number ten on the Billboard Top Alternative Albums chart, and number ten on the Billboard Tastemakers Albums chart. Booker was named “an artist you need to know” by “Rolling Stone” and a “contender for rock record of the year” by “SPIN.” In 2015, he released an exclusive 12” entitled “Live at Third Man Records.”
