Benny Blanco is an American musician, songwriter, and record producer born in Reston, Virginia on March 8, 1988. Blanco had an interest in producing music from an early age and would make beats and record himself on his boombox. He became an apprentice with the producer Disco D and would take trips to New York to meet with producers and labels. Songwriter and producer Dr. Luke became his mentor and signed him to his publishing company Prescription Songs. Blanco is responsible for more than 100 million album sales worldwide from his work with a number of big artists and is the recipient of the 2013 Hal David Starlight Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame. He has founded two labels in collaboration with Interscope Records, Friends Keep Secrets and Mad Love Records. He has worked with big names like Ed Sheeran, Maroon 5, Katy Perry, Halsey, Rihanna, Kesha, The Weeknd, Sia, Selena Gomez, Kanye West and others. In 2018 he released his debut single “Eastside” under his own name that was a collaboration with Khalid and Halsey. The song reached number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. That same year he released his debut album Friends Keep Secrets that reached number 41 on the Billboard 200 chart.
