Beth Gibbons is an English singer and songwriter best known as the lead singer of the electronic-pop band Portishead. She was born in Exeter, Devon, England, on January 4, 1965. She began her music career in 1991 when she formed the band Portishead with fellow musicians Geoff Barrow, Adrian Utley, and Dave McDonald. Her discography with the group includes the hit singles Glory Box, Roads, Sour Times, The Rip, Wandering Star, and the studio projects Dummy, Third, and Portishead. In 2002, she released her debut solo project Out Of Season, which was well received by listeners and critics.
