Chilean-Canadian singer, painter, actor, songwriter, and plastic artist, Luis Alberto Cuevas Olmedo was born on 12th September 1967 in Santiago, Chile. In 1988, he joined the band La Ley and debuted as their singer on their first album, ‘Desiertos’. The band went on to become extremely successful. In 1994 after the death of the founder, Andres Bobe, Cuevas took on his ropes and became the driving creative force behind the band. In 2001, the band won a Grammy for best alternative rock band. This boosted their popularity globally, but more importantly in Chile. Four years later, he broke away as a solo artist and worked in collaboration with bands like Los Prisioneros. His first solo album was released in 2009 and consisted of three hit singles, ‘Un Minuto de Silencio’, ‘Hablame’, and ‘Vuelvo’. He collaborated with artists like Miguel Bose and Michael Buble to release a version of ‘Gracias a la Vida’ by Violeta Parra to raise funds for an earthquake that hit Chile. 100% of the profits of the single were donated to support those affected by the disaster.
