Beverley Martyn Bio
Beverley Martyn was born on March 24, 1947 in Coventry, England. She is an English singer, songwriter and guitarist. While still a student in England, Martyn was picked to be the lead vocalist of The Levee Breakers, a jug band featuring Mac McGann and Johnny Joyce, who played the folk circuit in England in the early 1960s.
At the age of 16 she recorded her first single “Babe I’m Leaving You”, which was released in 1965. Martyn met Paul Simon, who invited her to New York where she contributed to the track “Fakin’ It” on the Simon and Garfunkel album “Bookends”. She later appeared at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967 with Simon and Garfunkel.
