Big Country is a rock band from Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. The band was formed in 1981 and consists of guitarist Bruce Watson, drummer Marj Brzezicki, guitarist Jamie Watson, vocalist Simon Hough, and bassist Gil Allan. The band was very popular in the mid-1980s, however, it still has a large following to date. They release music that blends Scottish folk and martial music styles. They released their debut single, titled “Harvest Home” in 1982.
Their single “Fields of Fire (400 Miles)” reached the UK’s Top Ten. In 1983, they released their debut album, titled “The Crossing”. The album reached Top 20 in Billboard 200. In 1984, they released the non-LP EP single “Wonderland”, which reached number 8 in the UK Singles chart. Other albums released by the band include “Steeltown” in 1984, “The Seer” in 1986, “Peace in Our Time” in 1988, “No Place Like Home” in 1991, “The Buffalo Skinners” in 1993, “Why the Long Face” in 1993, “Driving to Damascus” in 1999, and “The Journey” in 2012.
