Bill Russell is an American former basketball player who was born on February 12th 1934 in West Monroe, Louisiana, United States. He was born and raised in West Monroe. Bill attended the Heritage High School in Oakland California where he played basketball alongside the MLB great Frank Robinson.
Bill is famous and well known as a 5-time NBA MVP and also a 12-time All-Star selection. He also led the Boston Celtics to a jaw dropping 11 Championships from 1957 to 1969. While at the Bolton Celtics, he often played alongside star point guard Bob Cousy. Bill also won two NCAA Championships at the University of San Francisco and also a gold medal for Team USA at the 1956 Olympics.
