William Patrick Corgan, Jr. (who’s popularly known as Billy Corgan) is an American guitarist, singer and songwriter who was born on March 17th 1967 in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, United States. His first music exposure came from his father Billy Corgan Sr. who was a blues guitarist. Billy’s earliest influences came from hard rock bands like Cheap Trick and Van Halen.
Billy formed his first band Marked in 1985 which didn’t meet with much success. After a stint travelling around, he later took his time to form the successful rock band The Smashing Pumpkins with his friends guitarist James Iha and bassist D’Arcy. He is best known as the guitarist and singer-songwriter for the band. He helped the group to release some famous tracks like Bullet With Butterfly Wings and Today. Some of their songs have been remixed by Moby.
