Billy Clifford Gilmour is a Scottish professional soccer player who plays for the Scottish men’s national team and in the big European leagues as a holding midfielder. He was born on June 11, 2001, in Irvine Scotland.
Billy began his football career with the soccer academy at Rangers Football Club. The midfield phenom joined Chelsea in 2017 after turning down a professional contract with the Rangers. He made his Premier League debut on August 31, 2019, against Sheffield United under manager Frank Lampard. Two years later, he joined Premier League club Norwich City on loan from Chelsea thanks to Scotland international Grant Hanley. In the Premier League, he has played alongside seasoned players like Mason Mount, Ngolo Kante, and Thiago Silva. At a club level, he has won the European Champions League.
The midfielder has previously represented Scotland at under-16, under-17, and under-21 levels, and made his full international debut on June 2, 2021, against the Netherlands in the Euro 2020. He was the captain of Scotland's U16 team at the 2017 UEFA Development Tournament.
