Billy Idol Bio

Billy Idol is the artist’s name of William Michael Albert Broad, a punk rock musician who was born in Stanmore, England on November 30, 1955. He started his musical career in 1976 when he played as the guitarist in the rock band Chelsea. Right after he formed the band Generation X with Tony James, John Towe, and Bob Andrews. In 1981 started his career as a solo artist in New York City and released his debut album in 1982, and a year after the successful album “Rebel Yell” that became the best-selling album of his entire career. Billy Idol has collaborated with The Who in the opera rock “Tommy” playing the scary character of cousin Kevin. He also acted in other films, making a small appearance in Oliver Stone's film “The Doors”, and a cameo appearance in the comedy “The Wedding Singer”, with Adam Sandler. He has been nominated as the Best Male Rock Vocal Performance by Grammy Awards in several years, and his single “Cradle of Love” won the Best Video From a Film by MTV Video Music Awards.
