Birdy was born Jasmine van den Bogaerde in London, the United Kingdom on May 15, 1996. Her first foray in the music industry was when she was 14, and she released her cover of “Skinny Love.”
She received a nomination for British Female Solo Artist from the Brit Awards and she also performed at the Paralympics Opening Ceremony. She wrote songs for The Hunger Games, The Fault in Our Stars, and Brave, among others.
On November 2011, she released her self-titled album Birdy which topped the charts in Belgium, Australia, and the Netherlands. She dropped her second album Fire Within in September 2013. Her third album, Beautiful Lies, was released on March 2016.
In 2013, she won the Echo Music Prize Best International Rock/Pop Female Artist. She won the Best International Artist award from LOS40 Music Awards in 2014.
