Coming from Atlanta, Georgia, The Black Lips is a garage rock band who also play lo-fi, punk rock, and indie rock. It was formed in 1999. They made their debut in 2000, becoming among Peach State’s wildest bands. Having four founding members, the Black Lips is composed of Cole Alexander for vocals, harmonica and guitar, Joe Bradley as drummer, Jared Swilley as bassist, and Ben Ederbaugh for lead guitar.
However, being out of control and wild, they were banned from several Georgia venues. Still, they were spotted by Bomp! Records and was offered a record deal. Their self-titled album “Black Lips” was released in mid-2002. However, Ederbaugh died on a car accident leaving three members continuing their music. In 2004, they released “We Did Not Know the Forest Spirit Made the Flowers Grow.”
